Art and Environment (Church Decorating)
This working group decorates and enhances the worship space, which involves creating appropriate surroundings and rich symbolic representation in keeping with the liturgical seasons. These ministers, working together, transform the Church with flowers, greenery, colored tapestries, and candles. Volunteers are especially welcome in late Advent (Christmas decorating) and Holy Week (Easter decorating).
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)
This ministry provides assistance in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass. Some ministers may also take communion to parishioners who are home-bound, in a nursing facility or hospital. There is an annual training session. Training is required.
Music Ministries
This ministry provides music and song to enhance the various prayer and worship liturgies. Volunteers who play an instrument or enjoy singing are need to share their talent.
Proclaimers of the Word
This ministry provides for the proclamation of certain scriptural readings during weekend, holyday, and special liturgies throughout the year. There is an annual training session. Those serving in this ministry receive a Proclaimers of the Word Source Book for instruction, practice and review.
Sacristans
This ministry provides for the oversight of the organization and upkeep of the church sacristy, liturgical vessels, vestments, and additional liturgical needs. Ministers work in collaboration with the pastorate staff to ensure all required liturgical elements are in supply. Training is required.
Servers
This ministry provides the priests with assistance during the Mass, including funerals and weddings. Any male or female 4th grade and beyond are eligible for this ministry. There is an annual training session. Training is required.
Servers’ Garments
This ministry provides for the care of the albs worn by the servers. These ministers are needed to launder, press, and mend on a rotational basis.
Ushers/Greeters
This ministry provides hospitality at the weekend Masses by greeting parishioners and visitors, finding available seating when needed, offering guidance during processions (when needed) and overseeing the distribution of the pastorate bulletins and other handouts after the Mass. Ushers are also responsible for the collection of the people’s offerings. There is an annual training session.
